Margaret Howell, age 83, of Ardmore, entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Margaret was born June 23, 1933, in Ardmore, to the late Rufus and Alice Faye Carpenter. She was the youngest of three sisters. Margaret was a 1950 graduate of Ardmore High School and a graduate of Murray State College. She married Boyd Howell on June 29, 1952, and together they had two children. Margaret began her career at Oklahoma Natural Gas Company where she worked as the area customer service manager until her retirement in 1995. She was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she taught the 4-5 year old Sunday School Class for over 50 years. Margaret also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 64 years, Boyd Howell; along with two children, Cindy Smith and husband, Al of Ardmore, and Craig Howell and wife, Kellie of Denver; four grandchildren, Julie Charnock and husband, Jake, Casey Brown and husband, Daniel, Ryan Smith and Kevin Howell; two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Presley Charnock; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Alice; and sisters, Helen Payne and Betty Hughes.
Pallbearers will be Bill Barfield, Kenneth French, Ike Kyle, Johnny Wann, Phil Jantz and Wilbur Whittle. Honorary bearers are Gene Conway and Gary Simmons.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Donny Custar officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Ardmore. A time for family and friends to visit will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. this evening at Craddock Funeral Home.
