MARIETTA — A celebration of the life of Dorothy Caroline Stofel of Marietta, is set for 10 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, in Marietta’s First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Shahan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
Dorothy was born April 6, 1944, in Gladewater, Texas, the daughter of Horace Fred Dean and Emma Caroline Liddell Dean. She passed away Friday, March 31, in Southwest Medical Center, Oklahoma City, at the age of 72.
Dorothy had been employed as an administrative assistant with the Big Five Community Services for a number of years. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, gardening and feeding hummingbirds. Her other interests included making jewelry as well as other crafts. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with family and friends. She was also very proud of her Chickasaw heritage. Dorothy was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Marietta.
She is survived by two sons, Fred Dean Ramsey and Douglas Gene Stofel of Marietta; daughter, Anna Caroline Ramsey of Marietta; two brothers, Fred “Odie” Dean and wife, Kay of Kaufman, Texas, and Vernon “Babe” Dean and wife, Jenell of Springtown, Texas; two sisters, Linda Briggs and Ann Thomas and husband, Charles, all of Marietta; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Serving as casket bearers will be Shey Gray, Douglas Gene Stofel, Mike Hart, Wesley Stofel, Robert Lome Buckaloo and Cody Dean Ramsey.
Time of visitation for family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
