The Rev. P.J. Stewart will be spotlighted at noon Thursday during FUMC’s annual lenten services in the Colvert Ministry Center.
Known as the Rev. P.J., she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at the University of Arkansas and taught in various school districts and directed church choirs. She has been in ministry within the United Methodist Church for more than 25 years. Her ministry has included serving on the staff at Christ United Methodist Church in Tulsa for 17 years, working with youth and children’s ministries, adult Christian education, single’s ministry, and music ministries. She was appointed local pastor and associate pastor at Christ UMC in 1992.  
Stewart graduated from Phillips Theological Seminary and became an Ordained Elder in 2002.  She was then appointed to Disciple United Methodist Church in Catoosa, where she also served on the chamber of commerce board as vice president and president. The Rev. PJ also served at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Claremore.
In 2011, she was appointed to Sulphur United Methodist Church. The pastor is described as  a singer, pianist, and guitarist.  She has a passion for children and youth to know the Lord, and loves spending time with God in worship and praise. She also currently serves as Chair of East Central University’s Wesley Foundation.
The Rev. PJ was married to the late Frank Stewart for almost 30 years. They have four sons and six grandsons in the Tulsa area. Also a major part of the family, is Maggie, a 12-year-old Bishon Frise.
Services begin at noon and include an optional light lunch for $5.  Both the lunch and the message will conclude in less than an hour so those who work might be able to return to their jobs in a timely manner. Highlighting each of the services will be a Lenten message with a different speaker each day.
The public is invited to the Holy Week services, as well as Easter morning services that include traditional worship at 9 a.m. and EPIC worship at 11:05 a.m.
The Colvert Ministry Center is located at 503. W. Broadway St., across the street on the north side of the church, at the corner of Broadway & E St. NW.
