LONE GROVE — Home going celebration services for a life well served of Beatrice Ann (Hamilton) VanBuskirk, 87, of Ardmore are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, April, 26, 2017, at the Lone Grove Assembly of God Church with grandsons, Bill Baker, Brad Baker and Holden Sumbera officiating. Interment services will follow at the Lone Grove Cemetery in Lone Grove. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Bea was born Dec. 25, 1929, at Brock to the late Willie S. “Bill” Hamilton and Marie Elizabeth (Jones) Hamilton. She was delivered into her heavenly home on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at a healthcare facility in Ardmore.
Bea was raised primarily within the Lone Grove area and graduated high school at Russett. She married the late William Edward “Bill” VanBuskirk on Nov. 24, 1948, at Ardmore. To this union they shared three wonderful blessings whom they named, Cheryl, Lyndal and Helen.
They resided in Lone Grove, Walters and Wilson raising their children within a Godly home. Bea worked outside the home as a seamstress at the Jo-Kay Leather Company of Ardmore for several years and also at Overland Construction as a secretary. She was blessed with her first grandchild in 1974 named Missy. At that time she was awarded her crown title “Nanny” which she held proudly for the rest of her life.
Bea adored all of her grandchildren and was honored of all their accomplishments but was most pleased of their acceptance of Jesus Christ. She was a devout Christian from an early age and read her Bible daily for hours until her passing. She began her lifelong love for the Lord at the Lone Grove Assembly of God Church and proudly served in every capacity within the congregation however she was needed. She taught Sunday School for 50 years and loved Gospel music. Most recently she was a member of the Marietta Assembly of God Church.
Bill preceded her in death on March 31, 1976, and thereafter Bea resided mostly at Ardmore. She found another ministry working at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home of Ardmore as a receptionist in the evenings. Bea always searched for ways to share the Gospel within the community. Her daughter, Helen Baker and granddaughter, Missy LeAnn Glazier also preceded her in death. Bea was never the same without them. Those others preceding her in death were her parents; son-in-law, Randy Baker; parents-in-law, Roland and Viola (Smith) VanBuskirk; three brothers, Gerald, Roy and Kenneth Hamilton; sister, Juanita Demoss; brothers-in-law, Bob, Cecil, John and George VanBuskirk and Ronnie Stoker; and sisters-in-law, Janice and Janetta Hamilton and Pearl VanBuskirk.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Hedge and husband, Billy, of Rattan; son, Lyndal VanBuskirk and wife, Janet, of Ringling; grandchildren, Laticia and husband, Bob, Frank and wife, Susan, Colby and wife, Robin, Bill and wife, Kristin, Brad and wife, Ashley, Brady and wife, Shanna, Kristen, Jerry, Jaymie and Jayden; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Genova Stoker of Dickson; brothers, Harold Hamilton and wife, Sue, of Weatherford, Texas, Doyle Hamilton and wife, Melba, of Lone Grove, Warren Hamilton and wife, Nelda, of Ringold, Texas, and Glen Hamilton and wife, Glenda, of Chickasha; sisters-in-law, Johnnie Hamilton, JoAnn VanBuskirk, Edna Caples, June Farve, Lois Shrouf and JoAnn Herwick; brothers-in-law, Wade Demoss and Raymond VanBuskirk; and numerous other nieces, nephews and other family.
