MARIETTA — Matthew John Foster was born June 26, 1957, in Austin, Texas to Albert L. and Clara Louise Foster, long-time residents of Marietta and Love County, and died April 26, 2017, in Edmond, Okla. Matthew was a grandson of Albert A. and Cleta Louise Foster of Marietta, and a great-grandson of William Isiah and Cora England Foster, and C.C. and Addie Splawn Mathews.
Matthew graduated from Classen High School in OKC in 1974, and served four years with the U.S. Marines before settling down in the OKC area. He attended Rose State College in Midwest City from 1979 to 1983, and worked in several occupations, including as a welder and an electrician. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 1141, an ardent Thunder fan, and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Late in life, Matthew accomplished an impressive feat: he returned to college in his 50s and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Oklahoma on May 5, 2012.
Matthew was a devoted son, who in recent years divided his time at the Rolling Green Apartments in Edmond with visiting and helping his parents in Marietta.
