When it comes to a sport like golf, a positive attitude can take someone a long way.

Case in point, Thackerville golfer Ethan Scarbrough.

Through hard work, an easy going playing style, and motivation from missing out on state last year, the Wildcats golfer is set to make his presence known on the big stage at the state tournament this morning.

Scarbrough will tee off at 8:20 a.m. this morning, representing Thackerville at the Class 2A boys state golf tournament from the Cimarron Trails Golf Course in Perkins.

“I’m just excited to be able to go to state this year,” Scarbrough said. “It was tough missing it last year by just one stroke.”

Head coach Larry Hale couldn’t contain his excitement when talking about Scarbrough making the state tournament this season.

“I love seeing kids have the chance to play at the highest level possible,” he said. “Getting to see Ethan achieve his goals like this is great. He’s so easy going on the course. Even after a tough shot, he never gets upset or gets too excited about anything.”

Ethan Bailey from Victory Christian and Malachi Newton from Frederick will join Scarbrough in their respective grouping as the trio will tee off from the first hole on the course.
