Dorothy Roberts was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Bardwell, Texas, to Issac and Mattie (Conners) Middlebrooks. She passed this life on July 7, 2017, in Ardmore. Dorothy was united in marriage to Roy Gaines who preceded her in death.
She loved God and dedicated her life to working in the church and her community, faithfully. Church work consisted of working with the Women’s Missionary Society, Trustee Board, Sunday School and wherever she was needed. Serving others was her greatest joy. She consistently branched out doing God’s work in several different churches in the community.
Dorothy was always busy and had many hobbies. She loved to plant and work in her garden. Every chance she had she was playing her piano, it made her heart happy. Her favorite creation was the van pool to assist others around town.
Left behind to cherish her memories are four children, Diane (Reginald) Roberts of Houston, Carl (Sherle) Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas, Lisa Roberts of Houston, and John (Evangela) Roberts of Ardmore; grandchildren, Ringo Cox, Antonio Cox, Susan Miles, Tina Jackson, Sha Moniqua Middlebrooks, Meshoniqua Middlebrooks, Jimmylah Knighten, Dana Cox, Alfreda Robbins, Reginald Roberts II, Carlgaysha Jackson, Carlston Roberts, Carl Roberts Jr., Shena Fields, Anglica Roberts and Jon-na Roberts; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
