Mildred Anna Rhodes, 94, of Ardmore, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Whispering Oaks Nursing Center in Ardmore. 

She was born on Feb. 6, 1923 in McMillan, Okla., to the late Perry Eddie Elmore and Cora Ada Coffman Elmore. Mildred was raised in McMillan where she attended school. She later lived in Massachusetts and New York before moving back to McMillan. Mildred also lived in Oklahoma City, Lebanon, Okla., and the past 7 years in Ardmore.

She married John Franklin Smith on Dec. 19, 1942 in Fort Drum, New York and he preceded her in death on July 28, 1948. Mildred later married Billy John Rhodes and he preceded her in death in 1995. She was a member of the Lebanon Church of Christ and she enjoyed gardening, working crossword puzzles, cooking, canning, hunting and fishing.

She is survived by two children, Carolyn Dickson, Ardmore, and Pat Stennett, Lake Dallas, Texas; grandchildren: Mike Dickson and wife Stephanie, Ardmore; Jimmy Dickson and wife Kimberly, Ardmore and Eric Stennett, Ardmore; great-grandchildren: Justin Johnson and wife Cody, Jessica Smith and husband Cody, Jordan Dickson, Ethan Dickson and Jace Dickson; great-great-grandchildren: Jayden Smith, Samantha Johnson and Jakobi Johnson; brother: Eules Elmore, Houston, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, sisters: Laura Dorene Elmore, Clara Bell Elmore, Lester Lee Elmore, Mildred Elmore and Elzie Elmore; brothers: Burl Elmore, Orville Elmore and Richard Elmore.

Casket Bearers are: Justin Johnson, Ethan Dickson, Jordan Dickson, Jace Dickson, Jimmy Dickson and Eric Stennett.

Visitation will be Wednesday at the Watts Funeral Home, Madill, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a family hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 27 at 2 p.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill. Chris Webb will officiate the service.
