Services for Margie Lorane (Ward) Shrewsbury will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with Father Mike Stephenson officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. The family visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home.

Margie Ward Shrewsbury, 94, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017. Margie was born in Ingalls, Kan., on Feb. 23, 1923. Around 1935, her family moved from Kansas to Los Angeles, Calif. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1942. During World War II, she was a member of the Los Angeles Fire Watcher Service and the Air Raid Defense. She was also the very first woman to be made manager at Zinkie’s Shoe Repair. On April 28, 1945, she married William “Bill” Shrewsbury in Los Angeles, Calif. They were married for 72 years.

Margie loved her family and was a loving wife, mother and friend. She loved to garden and always had beautiful flowers inside and outside her home. She especially loved raising African Violets and truly had a green thumb. Margie was a Boy Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, Church Choir Director, hair dresser, an incredible cook, a wonderful hostess and she had many friends. Margie loved people. She worked the reception desk at Zubik’s Hair Salon in Dallas, Texas, for over three decades, and the customers loved her. It seemed wherever she went, whether it be the grocery store, the post office, the gas station or a restaurant, she always knew people and remembered all their names. Margie loved animals, especially cats. She was truly the No. 1 Fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks. She was loyal, generous and classy, very involved in her church, Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Plano, Texas, and was loved by everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Leah Ward; sister Virginia Bahler; brother Charles Ward and granddaughter Virginia “Ginger” Midden.

Margie is survived by her husband William “Bill” of Ardmore; daughter Rhonda Midden and husband Aaron, of Ardmore; son Ronald Shrewsbury and wife Christina, of East Amherst, N.Y.; brother Robert Ward and wife Sue, of LaMirada, Calif.; sister Aletha Kuenzi of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren Amy Fleming of Dallas, Texas, Kimberly Melin and husband Mike, of North Canton, Ohio, Timothy Shrewsbury and wife Elke, of Clarksville, Tenn., Jill Daley and husband Mike, of Toronto, Canada; great-grandchildren Kenneth and Charles Melin of North Canton, Ohio.
