Barbara Jean Coffee, 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
She was born to Zack and Beulah Carnathan in their grocery store on Aug. 27, 1937, located between Wagoner and Haskell, Okla. On Dec. 30, 1955, she married Cletus Coffee. Together, they had three sons.
She enjoyed taking care of her family and her many pets over the years, including turkeys, goats, geese, chickens and her beloved dogs. Barbara loved to watch football and crime dramas. Whenever possible, she liked to attend OU women’s basketball games and go to local casinos to play the slot machines, or as she called it, “ching, chinging.” Barbara’s work history was a true testament to hard work. She operated a fork lift for Excel Mineral (Jonny Cat) for 18 years, retired for a short period and then started working once again operating a standing fork-lift for Walmart Distribution Center in Pauls Valley, Okla., until at the age of 78, when she began her second retirement.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus and her youngest son, Patrick. She is survived by her sons, Michael Coffee and Joel Coffee; five granddaughters, Jennifer Fielding, Brianna Coffee, Christa Mann, Kellie Coffee and Cydni Coffee; 10 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Zack, Ethan, Gehrig, Wyatt, Ava, Mantle, Raigann, Gemma and Decker; and one great-great-grandson, Ace.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at Lone Grove Cemetery. The family will host a visitation from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
