1 New Year, new you. Take the first steps toward a healthier lifestyle today  during Lake Murray Lodge’s First Day Hike. First Day Hikes are free, and begin at 11 a.m. Meet at the Lake Murray Nature Center at Tucker Tower at 11 a.m. for an easy-to-moderate two-mile hike along the Nature Center Trail. The first quarter-mile is paved and accessible. The remainder of the trail is along the lake shoreline and into the mixed forested area of the park. Be sure to bring your binoculars, a camera, water and appropriate dress for the cold. The free guided hike is in conjunction with the America’s State Parks First Day Hikes initiative that will take place in all 50 states.
2 Start the New Year off on the right foot while supporting Oklahoma music at 9:30 p.m. Friday when 2 Frogs kicks off its 2018 concert schedule with Nicnos, featuring guest Packing for Pluto. Pronounced, Nick-Knows, the pop/rock jam band formed in Oklahoma in 2010. The band gives a high energy, entertaining performance with songs from their self-titled first album Nicnos and the follow up Nicnos II. Covers range from pop and rock to some country and occasionally even a little bluegrass.

3 The New Year will bring new art to Ardmore along with a new art gallery.  Gordon Galleries hosts its opening gala at 7 p.m. Thursday at 17 North Washington Street. The event is free and open to the public. Food and beverages will be served.

4 What do comedian Dane Cook and Elvis Presley have in common? Probably not much, but both Cook and Elvis impersonator Kraig Parker will be performing at the Winstar World Casino in Thackerville this week. Cook takes the stage at 8 p.m. tonight, while Parker goes on at 1 p.m. Sunday.

5 The World Series of Poker circuit begins in Southern Oklahoma Wednesday at the Choctaw Grand Casino in Durant. Poker players looking to make the jump from amateur to pro will have a chance to gamble their way into the big leagues.
