On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2017, our Heavenly Father chose to take Jason Christopher Varon home after a brief illness. He was born on July 30, 1972, in Oklahoma City, graduated from Plainview High School in 1991 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of Santa Fe in 1996. Jason was a self-proclaimed minimalist who worked to follow his quest for truth and God in mankind and nature.
After college, his journey took him to Los Angeles where he was employed as a fourth grade teacher and later as an apartment complex manager in Santa Monica. Upon return to Ardmore, he worked as a logistics manager.
Jason, also known as Jay, will forever be remembered by his family and friends for his love of life and profound connection to the universe. He was a student, teacher and philosopher of humanity and spirituality. He loved the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, biking and his Jeep!
Jason is survived by his mother, Connie Varon, and his brother Marc and his wife, Heather, along with their daughter, Sophia. He also leaves his uncles, Edward Travis and Hy Varon, and his aunts, Alice Berlin and Cynthia Webb. And numerous cousins. In particular, Jason would want to express his gratitude to his cousin Janine.
There will be a Rosary said for Jason at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, in the Craddock Memorial Chapel. A memorial service is to follow at 2 p.m. with Deacon Bob Highsmith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request any memorial donations be made in memory of Jason Varon to OU Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
