Funeral services for Wilbur Ray “Peavine” Canada, 67, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
A time of visitation and support for the family will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at the funeral home.
The son of the late Eugene O. and Flora Drucilla Spoon Canada, Peavine was born Nov. 6, 1950 at Springer and passed away Dec. 29, 2017, in a local hospital.
Peavine graduated from Springer High School and began his career with Uniroyal Tire Company. He retired after 31 years from Michelin Tire as a tire manufacturer.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged Nov. 22, 1971. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
He and the former Connie Riggs were married Aug. 22, 1998, in Lone Grove. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing or hunting arrowheads.  
He is survived by his wife, Connie; stepson, Timothy Henson; brothers, Vernon, Garvin, Clarence and Bobby Canada; sisters, Mary Tufts, Flora Bray, Louellen Canada and Sharon Scifres; grandchildren, Chase Minyard, Dillon, Trent and Zack Canada, Ayden and Gwendolyn Henson; and his great-grandson Danny Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Danny and brother, Jack Elmer Canada.    
Serving as bearers will be Timothy Henson, Steve, Bobby and T.J. Tucker, Calvin and Bobby Canada and Huck Means.
