Services celebrating the homegoing of Wilma “Faye” Stevenson of Thackerville are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, in the Thackerville Church with Pastor Mike Sampson officiating. Interment will follow in Lawson Cemetery, Shaw, Miss., at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, with Bishop Joe Nathan Henry officiating.
The daughter of Johnny Hampton and Yvonne Hall, Faye was born June 8, 1957 in Fort Pierce, Fla. She passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, in North Texas Medical Center, Gainesville, at the age of 60.
A 1976 graduate of Shaw High School, Shaw, Miss., Faye retired as a revenue officer with the Department of Treasury (IRS) after 25 years of employment. She had been a resident of Oklahoma for the past four years, previously residing in Dallas. She and Clarence Stevenson were married on Jan. 30, 1996 in Dallas. Faye was a very caring and loving lady who was always available to lend a helping hand. She especially enjoyed church activities, cooking and praise dance. In addition, she was a writer who had penned her autobiography. Faye, proud to be cancer free since 1999, was also a volunteer for Relay for Life. Faye came to faith at an early age and began mission work winning souls for Christ.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Clarence Stevenson of the home; three sons, Demmerick K. Hampton and Evangeline Hardin, and Gregory E. Stevenson of Dallas, and Devyn C. Stevenson of Cedar Hill, Texas; three daughters, Annette D. Hampton of Shaw, Antecia T. Parker and husband, Michael, and Nedra T. Butler of Cedar Hill; three brothers, Samuel Hall of Savannah, Ga., Curtis Singleton and Cedric Singleton of Shaw; three sisters, Georgette Jackson of Shaw, Jinaki Wilson and husband, Johnny, of College Park, Ga., and Senova Curry and husband, Samuel, of Cedar Hill; 15 grandchildren, Demmerick Hampton, Octavius Stimage, Quantrell Dean, Dinesha Hampton, Exavier Hardin, Elijah Hardin, Destry Jackson, Joshua Hampton, Michael Parker, Meah Parker, Taylor Parker, Jada Butler, Jalance Butler, Lexi Stevenson and Jordan Stevenson; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
No visitation is scheduled.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
