Ardmore and the surrounding area has enjoyed a significant drop in overall crime rates over the last year, but area residents have reported hundreds of dollars in lost property and damages after this weekend’s round of auto and home burglaries, according to police department reports.

Ardmore Police Department Capt. Keith Ingle said an APD officer was dispatched to the 200 blk of North Commerce on Sunday at 1:55 a.m. for a robbery in progress.

Ingle said that according to police reports, the suspect was male, wearing a black mask and black shirt.

“Upon arrival the suspect had left the area,” the report said. “The suspect was described as a white male about 5’ 10” and thin.”

Ingle said minor injuries were reported by the victim at the scene.

The report also said a suspect was named but contact had not yet been made with that individual.

Total value of the stolen property in that case is estimated at $860. Ingle said investigators are currently following all leads.

Several other reports of home and auto burglaries were reported over the weekend, including one case where the reporting party said the suspect pointed a gun at them and stole their truck. The report said the truck was later found, but the suspect was not.

Ingle said there is no indication yet that any of these cases are related.
