Warren (Buddy) Francis Legg Jr., at home in the Falconhead Resort Community, Burneyville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018. Though he is sadly missed by family and friends, we know he is at peace and resting in the comforting arms of his Lord and Savior.
Warren was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Oklahoma City, the only son of the late Warren F. Legg and Edythe M. Hoover Legg. He passed away in Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City at the age of 87. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church of Belpre, Ohio and regularly attended the Falconhead Christian Fellowship of Burneyville. He graduated from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City and Oklahoma A&M (OSU) in Stillwater with a BSME in 1953. He was a registered professional engineer in the state of West Virginia.
Warren married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Lois Armer, in Oklahoma City in June 1952. Upon his graduation from Oklahoma A&M, they moved to Orange, Texas where he started his 27-year career with E. I. DuPont at the Sabine River Works. The first of their three children, David Warren Legg, was born in Orange in December 1954. His daughter, Kellis Elaine Bunner, was born in Japan at Tachikawa Air Base in June 1956. His youngest son, Steven Bryan Legg, was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., in March 1963.
Warren was retired from E. I. DuPont de Nemours and Co., Washington Works of Washington, W.Va., in 1980 after 27 years of service, and The Ametek Corp., Microfoam Division, Wurtland, Ky., in 1995 after 12 years of service. He served in the U.S. Air Force, FEAF HQ, Tokyo, Japan and Fuchu AB, Japan, 1955 to 1957, as utilities officer, 6000th Air Installation Group.
Following his retirement from DuPont in 1980, Warren became co-owner of a Bass Pro Shop, The Ohio Valley Marine & Tackle Inc., in Belpre. He returned to the manufacturing industry in 1983 with Ametek Inc., Microfoam Division, as technical superintendent in their Wurtland manufacturing facility.
Warren was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; his mother and father; stepmother, Frances Berkenbvile; his sister, Martyne Hawes; and his daughter, Kellis E. Bunner.
He is survived by his second wife, Mary M. Dane Legg of the home at Falconhead, Burneyville; two sons, David W. Legg and wife, Jeanne, of Marietta, Ohio; and Steven B. Legg and wife, Leslie, of Vincent, Ohio; granddaughters, Emily Fisher, Maren Legg and Sophia Speed; grandsons, Jesse Legg, Jordan Legg and Stefan Legg; and son-in-law, Brian Bunner of Belpre.
Warren will be returned to Belpre for interment at Fairview Memory Gardens. Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta, Okla., will handle arrangements for the return through his son, David Legg. There will be no viewing or services.
