Dorothy was born March 2, 1934, to the late Mr. Homer T. Elkins and Mrs. Trudie (Welch) Elkins at Ratliff City. She departed this life Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, in Ardmore.
Dorothy resided in the Ratliff City area and attended school at Eaves City until fourth grade. She then transferred to Fox, where she graduated high school in 1951. On July 14, 1952, she married her high school best friend, Mr. Troy Don Dixon. Shortly after, Troy was called into the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Dorothy went to work for Fox Public Schools in 1969 as a school bus driver and was the grade school secretary for 10 years before serving as the high school secretary for 17 years. She retired in 1994 and her and Troy enjoyed many travels together. Their adventures included seven cruises, visiting Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, D.C., Baton Rouge, La., and many mission trips to Brazil. She also enjoyed attending the horse races. Dorothy attended church at both the Fox and Healdton Baptist Churches since 1960 and had served as the women’s Sunday school teacher.
