Burglary and thefts in the Ardmore area have continued to see a spring uptick recently.
Again this week, Ardmore Police officers were dispatched to two auto burglaries.
Tuesday, a purse was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 700 block of 4th Ave. NE. Officers estimate a loss of about $100 in that incident, which occurred sometime overnight.
Another incident Monday involved a locked vehicle, which was parked in the victim’s driveway in the 400 block of Oak Street. Officer Cody Garrett’s report showed an estimated loss of $690 in that incident as a rifle and magazine were taken from the automobile.
No suspects were named in either incident.
Ardmore Police Capt. Keith Ingle said the suspect or suspects may face additional charges of possession of stolen property if found with the stolen firearm and other items.
Ingle said area residents should take the extra minute to remove valuables and lock car doors. Not doing so, Ingle said, makes people an easy target.
