Bob (Bobby Gene) Motley died Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the local hospital in Ardmore, Okla.  He was born to the late Noah and Inez Irene Beard Motley, January 19, 1931, at Ardmore.  He grew up here and was a graduate of Ardmore High School the class of 1951.  At AHS he played football and was known to “play it rough and tough.”
As a member of Oklahoma’s 45th Division that was activated during the Korean War, Bob served in the 822nd Engineers from 1951 to 1953 and was honorably discharged.
Following his military service Bob found his life’s work in the oil fields of Oklahoma, usually seven days a week and all holidays.  He worked for several drilling companies and found his home with Big Chief Drilling Company, where he became the Rig Superintendent, retiring after 37 years with the company.
Bob and Gloria Jean Wallace were married May 12, 1962, at Lake Murray Chapel; they would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this year.
Formerly members of the First Orthodox Baptist Church, they had returned to Ardmore from Moore, Oklahoma in 2000 and affiliated with the Trinity Baptist Church.
In his leisure time Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the yard, at family gatherings, especially if BBQ was on the menu. He enjoyed playing Dominoes, Yatzee and sometimes poker; games that he learned from his aunts and uncles.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria of the home; his brother Bill Motley; a niece, Karla Kay Shannon and husband, Jack; nephews, Bruce Motley, Jeff and Greg Clark, Shane and Jeremy Head; great-nephew, Zachary Motley as well as many other extended family members.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Wiley Ray Clark preceded him in death.
