Funeral services for William Orlo “Bill” Townsend, 73, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Chaplain Matt Benedick officiating.  Burial with military honors will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with the assistance of Jushua Luttrall, Shannon Weller, Austin Wigley, Chris Johnson, Kevin Wildermuth, and  Jeremy Garrison.
Bill died peacefully at his Lone Grove home, with his wife, Vurner, by his side.  He was born January 29, 1945 at Sims, Arkansas to the late Thomas Herbert Townsend and Cleo Mabel Plyler Townsend.  He grew up in Weatherford, Texas and graduated from high school there and attended the Weatherford College.  He enjoyed street rods and working on old cars.
During the Vietnam War, Bill served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy, aboard the USS Constellation.  He worked with Lennox Air Conditioning, retiring after 26 years service.   
Bill and the former Vurner Jean Thompson were married January 15, 1983, at Weatherford and moved to Ardmore in 2005. They had celebrated their thirty-fifth anniversary this year.
Survivors include his wife, Vurner Townsend of the home in Lone Grove; a daughter, Angellitta Wildermuth and husband, Kevin of Weatherford, Texas; a son, James Potts and wife, Tracie of Ada, Oklahoma; his brother, Darrell Townsend, Greenville, Texas; a sister Anna Spivey; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
