Success and the Ardmore Tigerettes Pom squad have always gone hand-in-hand since the program was founded more than 30 years ago.

Earlier this month, the 2018-19 version of the award winning Tigerettes added their own piece to an already historic legacy.

At the University of Oklahoma in Norman, the Tigerettes participated in the Universal Dance Association Pom Camp, and managed to bring home several honors.

In total the Tigerettes earned 31 blue ribbons, along with two red ribbons, 20 yellow ribbons, the 110 percent full-out award, and a Superior squad trophy.

There was also the small matter of the Tigerettes qualifying for Nationals in Orlando later this year, along with receiving a spirit stick every day of the camp.

For one Tigerettes member though, the camp was extra special.

Senior captain Carley Lankford was given the honor of being named a UDA All-American selection at the camp.

In order to qualify to be an All-American, each candidate performed six 8-counts of UDA Choreography along with an additional two 8-counts of their own choreography.

Only the top 10 percent of the UDA camp were chosen as All-Americans.

With this prestigious honor now comes a choice for Lankford, as she will get the option of performing at several different high profile events which will take place later this year.

Among her options are the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade, the Orlando Thanksgiving Parade in Florida, and the Varsity Rome Tour in Rome, Italy, the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, or the Varsity Spirit Spectacular at Walt Disney World.

“For me this is a great honor to be named as an All-American and to get to have the chance to represent the Ardmore Tigerettes this way,” Lankford said.

“The hardest part of the process for trying out to be honest was just having the confidence to do it in the first place. Right now I’ve narrowed my options down to either going to Rome, Italy or going to Orlando, Florida to perform.”
