Don Wayne Barbour was born May 30, 1940, in Healdton, to Fred Warren Barbour and Edythe S. Helm Barbour. He joined sister, Monta Lou and brother, Kenneth. At an early age, Kenneth named him Butch, and he has been known by that name all his life.

Butch graduated in 1958, from Dundee High School where he enjoyed and excelled at basketball.

Coming from a family of musicians, his Dad taught him the key of D at age seven. Butch enjoyed and developed on his own with his ear for music the ability to be quite a good guitarist and singer. Following a two-week boat ride return to New York and a flight to Love Field, he arrived in Healdton and married Karen. The highlight of their lives was being parents to sons, Steve and Paul.

Butch worked 31 years for Texaco in Andrews, Texas, and Healdton. Following retirement at the end of 1998, Butch enjoyed working for a time with Chance at Spivey Funeral Home. He worked various oilfield related jobs for the next several years while keeping his yard and acreage nice.
