The daughter of the late Thomas P. Newcomb and Frankie (Cowling) Newcomb, Susan was born on Dec. 15, 1939, in McAlester, and passed away on Aug. 14, 2018, at her Ardmore residence.
An Ardmore resident since 1964, moving here from Oklahoma City where she graduated high school, Susan was a member of the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and the Daughters of American Revolution.
Susan had spent many hours at the Ardmore Children’s Shelter where she was a residential aide. Susan enjoyed traveling and spent lots of time in New York City and Paris, considering them her second home. While in New York, Susan would attend many Broadway Plays. With a passion for performing arts, Susan had attended and supported the Goddard Center.
An animal lover, Susan loved her dogs Sophia and Chloe but most of all Susan cherished being with her granddaughters, whether it was shopping or having high noon tea with them.
Susan is survived by her sons, Michael McDaniel and Greg McDaniel; twin sister, Betsey Nash and husband Robert; grandchildren, Kaitlyn McDaniel, Michael McDaniel, Jr. and Amy McDaniel; nieces, Lizbeth Nash and Kelly Susan Frizzell and her husband the Honorable Gregory Frizzell.
Funeral services for Susan McDaniel Schene, 78, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with Reverend Michael P. Stephenson officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with the assistance of Gregory McDaniel, Michael McDaniel, Robert Nash, The Honorable Gregory Frizzell, Ben Frizzell, Robert Frizzell and David Frizzell serving as pallbearers.
A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
