Pearl Ellen “Nana Pearl” Henry was born to Robert and Iva Ragsdale on July 25, 1937, in Bullfrog Valley, Ark. She was the youngest sister to Jewel Sparks and Minnie Huffman, both of Arkansas. Pearl passed away on Aug. 24, 2018, and joined many family members and friends that she loved so deeply; including her sister, Minnie, son, Kevin, daughter, Nanci and best friends, Gladys and Cheryl.

Pearl dedicated her life to working hard and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite hobby was being lost at the casino. She loved to play slot machines and could play for hours. Pearl spent her childhood years in Arkansas, then as a young parent, spent time traveling to California, Colorado and Arizona prior to settling down in Lone Grove. She lived in her home on Newport Road in Lone Grove until August 2015. 

Pearl retired from Uniroyal Tire Company in Ardmore. Pearl was diagnosed with early Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease in 2013. In 2015, her condition rapidly declined, and she required more assistance with daily activities. She then moved to the Oklahoma City/Edmond area with her daughter, Sharla and her family, and was cared for until her passing. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Iva Ragsdale; sister, Minnie Huffman; son, Kevin McDonald; and daughter, Nanci Martinez. 

Pearl is survived by her son, Joey Martinez and daughter, Sharla Brown; grandchildren, Breanna Skeen, Makenzie Hill, Patrick McDonald, Kevin McDonald, Alex Avila, Maria Peru and Dawn Helen; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Maelee Skeen, Emma, Johnny and Clay McDonald, Chris Jimenez and Leo, Elena and Tantonio Avila. 

A service celebrating the life of Pearl will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at the Christ Community Church, 2620 Mount Washing Rd. in Ardmore.
