A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joyce Darlene “Sam” Grant is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at the First Baptist Church with her Nephew, Dr. Casey Campbell officiating.
Joyce was born Mar. 9, 1949 in Leon, Okla., to Heston E. and Mary Bell (Brewer) Reed. She passed this life on Sept. 3, 2018 at her residence in Ardmore. She and Jon Grant were married in Ardmore on June 11, 1971. She received her bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and started her teaching career at Greenville School. After teaching one year at Greenville she was lucky to then start at Plainview for the remaining 35 years. She was an extraordinary teacher who always cared deeply for her students. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ardmore. She was the most loving mom and grandmother (Bella) that anyone could have. Her whole life was dedicated to teaching and loving children.
She is survived by her husband of the home, Jon; Daughter, Mandy Castleberry and her husband Chance of Kingwood, Texas.; Jon Cassidy “Cass” Grant and his wife Connie of Ardmore; Mother, Mary Paul of Ardmore; Brother, Elvis Reed and his wife Tracy of Marietta; Sisters, Sherry Campbell and her husband Tim of Fort Worth, Texas and Lois Reed of Surprise, Ariz.; Grandchildren, Carson Castleberry, Brynn Castleberry, Carter Grant and J.J. Grant.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Heston Reed.
Pallbearers will be Max Martin, Larry Lawson, Mike Collier, Jerry Kemp, Tim Campbell and Jamey Hutchings.
The family request memorials be left to The First Baptist Church Falls Creek Scholarship.
