On Friday, Sept. 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. the Ardmore Main Street Authority will host the second annual Wine Walk. On Wednesday, AMSA General Manager Jeff DiMiceli said last year about 100 people were in attendance, but they are expecting an even bigger crowd this year.

“We really had our first post yesterday, and the response has been amazing,” DiMiceli said. “The phone has been blowing up and people are very excited.” Four Oklahoma wineries will be bringing a large variety of wines ranging from sweet to dry. So there will be plenty of options to appeal to everyone’s taste.

“Everyone that comes either buys a ticket on site or they check in if they purchased a ticket in advance,” DiMiceli said. There will be two locations to check in on opposite ends of Main Street, Main and C Street and the other will be determined based on the location of the Streetscape Project on Sept. 21. “After they are checked in, they are given a wrist band and a little wine glass with our custom logo on it.” From there they are free to explore the various stores participating in the event.

“When they go into a store, they will get a coupon for one pour of wine,” DiMiceli said. “So the more stores they visit the more wine they can sample. Our whole purpose in doing this is to get people into the stores to see everything that downtown has to offer.  We have so many people who just don’t know what’s down there.” There is also going to be much more to the evening than simply wine.

“The stores that participate stay open until 9 p.m., and they have hors d’oeuvres and snacks at each store,” DiMiceli said. There will also be various artists, vendors and musicians spaced out up and down Main Street. One thing that is important to remember, though, is that the wine cannot be taken inside the businesses. However, AMSA has come up with a solution.

“At each wine tasting station, we have a little seating area where people can sit and relax,” DiMiceli said.
