The Ardmore Police Department is seeking the identity of a woman who allegedly attempted to use a forged check at a local retailer.

An officer responded to a possible fraud at an area retailer around 5 p.m. on Aug. 28, according to a statement released by APD.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the alleged victim who stated his bank called to confirm whether he’d issued a check to a subject for $245, which he did not. The officer was provided with the check, which appeared to have been “washed,” and then altered, according to the officer’s report.

The alleged victim advised that the check number was one he wrote to a charity which had already been cashed. The officer was provided with a Texas ID card that the alleged suspect presented to the bank teller and left behind when she fled.

According to the officer’s report, the picture on the card is not the same subject in still images from the surveillance camera. APD investigators believe the ID card was stolen and presented to the teller so that the suspect could avoid being identified.

APD’s Investigation Division is seeking information on the identity of the subject from that footage. Contact Det. J. Johnson at  (580) 221-2556. Callers may remain anonymous.
