According to a press release from the Madill Police Department, at approximately 2:32 a.m. on Tuesday,  officers of the Madill Police Department responded to the 100 block of East Wolf Street in Madill on report of a person being shot. Upon arrival, officers found a 36-year-old male subject with a single gunshot wound laying on a bed in the bedroom he had rented from the home owner. According to the report, officers were given information on a suspect who fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. An immediate search for the suspect began at that time.
The report states that while being transported to a local hospital, the victim succumbed to the injury and died. At that time, the case turned into a homicide investigation. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called to process the scene of the shooting.
The report states that at approximately 7:30 a.m. the department received information on the possible location of the suspect, Harold Andrew MacNeil, 38. Officers responded to the Carter Lake area and located MacNeil’s vehicle near a residence. According to the reports, numerous attempts were made to get MacNeil to exit the residence, which he refused. Additional officers were called to the scene and MPD asked for assistance from the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police Tactical Team. Before the tactical team arrived, MacNeil surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. MacNeil has been booked into the Marshall County Jail charged with first degree murder.
