The Pride of Ardmore will once again bring music and barbecue to Heritage Hall on Thursday.
The 62nd annual Ardmore Band Barbecue will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on October 11.
Community members can stop by for lunch and performances by the school’s bands throughout the day.
“It’s essentially our fall showcase,” AHS Band Director Chauvin Aaron said. “We’ll invite the community to come out and support our band program.”
Performances will start at 11:30 a.m. with the intermediate band, followed by the advanced band at 12:15. The beginning band will take the stage at 2 p.m., followed by a four hour break. The high school band will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by a community pep rally at 7 p.m.
“It’s an event we traditionally have in October and we have people who’ve been coming for years and years,” Aaron said.
Tickets for the event are $8 and include a meal with a pulled pork sandwich, beans, dessert and a drink. Band students are donating desserts for lunch. Students that drive will help with deliveries and the leadership teams will serve food at Heritage Hall.
Aaron said the band fed about 1,000 people last year, between guests who came to Heritage Hall and businesses that ordered lunch for delivery. Students will deliver orders of 10 or more. Orders must be placed by Wednesday, and can be placed at (580)221-3010 ext. 2142.
“A lot of our parents — their workplaces usually donate by feeding our staff and things like that,” Aaron said.
The event will also include a bake sale, a silent auction, and band merchandise for sale.
