While the Wilson Eagles might not have an undefeated season within their grasp anymore, the playoffs are still a very real possibility.

Friday night, Wilson rebounded in a big way from its first loss of the year last week, as the Eagles crushed the Central High Bronchos by a score of 40-6 at Broncho Stadium in Marlow.

The victory moves the Eagles to 6-1 on the season, and 1-1 in district play.

Carson Fulton got Wilson on the board in the first quarter when he caught a 20-yard pass from Logan Schaaf, before Hunter Wyatt added the two-point conversion to make it 8-0.

Trevor Schaaf then made it 14-0 for the Eagles when he rushed his way in from 16-yards out.

Central High managed to get its only score of the game in the second quarter off a 55-yard touchdown pass.

However, Wilson wasn’t about to let a Bronchos comeback happen, as the Eagles struck back quickly with a 12-yard rushing touchdown from Logan Schaaf to make it 20-6.

Hayden Mantooth added to the advantage for Wilson, when Mantooth found his way to the end zone from 35-yards out to make it 26-6.

Logan Schaaf then sent the Eagles into the locker room with a 32-6 advantage, when he dashed his way 50-yards for a touchdown.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Eagles finished the game off in the fourth when Wyatt scored a three yard rushing touchdown.

Mantooth then converted the two-point conversion.

Logan Schaaf finished as the leading rusher for the Eagles with nine carries for 86 yards with two touchdowns, with Trevor Schaaf carrying the ball 13 times for 75 yards and one touchdown.

Mantooth finished the game with seven carries for 69 yards with one touchdown.

Hunter Wyatt had 17 yards on four carries with one touchdown in the contest.

Wilson finished the game with 17 first downs while holding the Bronchos to just nine total first downs in the game Friday night.

Wilson will be back in action at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night on the road against the Empire Bulldogs.

A victory would almost assure the Eagles of a playoff berth this season with two games to go.

Games against the Ryan Cowboys and the Bray-Doyle Donkeys will then follow to end the season for the Wilson Eagles.
