When it comes to Class 4A cross country, the Plainview boys and girls cross country teams have made the state meet almost like a second home.

When it comes to Class 4A cross country, the Plainview boys and girls cross country teams have made the state meet almost like a second home. 

This past weekend at the Wildhorse Golf Course in Velma, both Plainview squads booked their tickets back to the state meet.

The Plainview Lady Indians won the regional championship, while the Indians took third, both qualifying for the state meet.

Joining them will be both the Madill Wildcats and Lady Wildcat squads, after the Madill girls finished second and the Madill boys also finished second.

The 2018 Class 4A state cross country meet will take place on Saturday from the Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee with the girls race beginning at approximately 3 p.m. and the boys race starting at 3:45 p.m. 

Faith Lloyd won the individual regional championship for Plainview, winning the girls race with a time of 13:16. 

Haden Hobbs, Madi Turner, and Deryn Hobbs finished in places 4-6, with times of 13:47.70, 13:50, and 13:52. 

Emily Butler finished 11th overall for Plainview with a time of 14:09, while Katie Wiggs was 15th at 14:35, and Sommer Bowker clocked in at 15:32. 

Leading the way for the Madill Lady Wildcats was Joslyn Stumblingbear in third place with a time of 13:47, with Valeria Calderon  in 10th clocking in at 14:08. 

Alejandra Orozco clocked in at 14:20, which earned her 14th place overall, with Daisy Rosas finishing in 21st with a time of 14:57. 

Other finishers for the Lady Wildcats included Fatima Duenez (15:09), Yesenia Silva (15:18), and Isabel Sanchez (15:29). 

In the boys race, it was Madill’s Miguel Duran winning the individual regional championship with a time of 17:46, with his teammate Diego Ibarra in sixth at 19:01, and Anthony Sanchez in ninth clocking in at 19:23. 

Keon Christie finished 16th overall with a time of 19:50 for the Wildcats.

Other finishers for Madill included Brandon Serrano (20:26), Gael Salinas (21:04), and Julio Gallo (21:47). 

Leading the way for the Plainview Indians was Josh Hottell who finished eighth overall with a time of 19:16, with Benjamin Hicks finishing 14th overall with a time of 19:43. 

Ethan Lollman crossed the finish line with a time of 20:08, giving him 21st overall. 

Other finishers for Plainview included Scotty Maxey (20:35), Lane Willoughby (20:48), Michael Lloyd (21:16), and Sailor Heller (21:18).
