Sandra Alice Howerton Downs:
Sandra, known to all as MeMe, has joined her Heavenly Father in heaven and has met Jesus, Face to Face, on Oct. 19, 2018.  She was born at Wilson, on Jan. 3, 1938, to Roy and Ruth Elizabeth Cunningham Howerton, attending Wilson Schools.
MeMe was the fire that lit all of our lives and everyone she knew. Her love for her beloved husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds. She was the matriarch of our family and brought such intense joy, love and laughter into every room she entered. Her giggle was contagious. She had a passion for the kitchen and loved cooking and baking big food for her big family.  She and PaPa always had some sort of little treat working up in the oven. It brought her the most joy having everyone around the dinner table eating, laughing and telling stories. Nothing made her happier than being with her family and she was so incredibly proud of her children and their families and how wonderful they grew up to be.
Married to Albert Downs, the love of her life, on Feb. 11, 1963; her darling husband Al “PaPa” was the deepest love a marriage could ever know. Theirs was a love story of all love stories that could inspire the most compelling of novels. She needed very little in life to make her happy but to be with those she loved. Her faith in the Lord was a constant and she raised all of children to know and to love Jesus.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ardmore, and had retired from the Southern Oklahoma Blood Institute after 20 years of dedicated service.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, David Howerton; and four sisters, Betty Clendenen, Iris (Tiny) Papes, Dixie Herrell, Mary Lou Howerton and three infant siblings; sister-in-law Jane (Liz) Lebow and nephew, Brent Howerton.
Survivors include her loving family: husband, Albert;  daughter, Kim Davenport, of Ardmore, three sons, Chet Downs and wife, Debbie, of Paris, Texas, Ty Downs and wife, Sherri, of Edmond, and Timothy and wife, Sheila, of Deltona, Fla.; sister-in-law, Charlene Howerton, of Jimtown; seven grandchildren; Matthew Downs and wife, Sherri, Tayler Carson Sandvick and husband, Erik, Trysten Davenport, Lacey Downs, Logan Downs, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Downs and Timothy Downs; three great-grandchildren, Kayde Downs, Blaire Sandvick and Hutchinson Sandvick; numerous nieces and nephews including, Larry Webb, Lisa Barbee, Tina Bass, Stacey Englehardt, Vikki Hallum, R.J.
