After a brief reprieve, Ardmore Police Department Officer Travis Shields filed two reports this week regarding counterfeit bills.
In one instance, Shields’ report shows that while the officer was at a business in the 1700 block of North Commerce on an unrelated matter, he was given two counterfeit $20 bills.
Those bills were then booked into evidence at the police station. “It is unknown who passed the bills,” Shields said in the report.
The second complaint occurred on Wednesday when Shields was dispatched to the 2400 block of 12th Street NW. According to the officer’s report, several counterfeit $5 bills were found in the bathroom of a business. APD Capt. Keith Ingle described those bills as “copy paper money.”
“The fives were found in the trash, not used or attempted to be passed,” Ingle said.
Several other counterfeit money cases have been reported since April. At least two cases were reported in August, one in Ardmore  and one in Healdton.
No suspects are known in either matter as of press time.
