SHAWNEE — There was plenty to be excited about last Saturday when it came to area boys cross country teams.

Sulphur and Lone Grove both managed to put in solid efforts at the Class 3A state cross country meet, which was held at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee. 

The Bulldogs managed to claim ninth overall in the team standings with 255 points, while the Longhorns were represented in the race by two runners in Ian Porter and Karson Clemons. 

Clemons finished the race with a time of 21:48, with Porter running a 22:41. 

Caleb Pierce made the medal stand for the Bulldogs as he ran a solid time of 17:33, earning him seventh overall in the individual standings.

Samuel Barker finished the race with a time of 19:11, with Kolbe Madron at 19:54.

Other finishers for the Bulldogs included Konner Lunsford (20:14), Ruben Osornio (20:15), Keegan Johnson (21:16), and Jake Cooper (21:31).
