Pamela Elaine Scruggs, affectionately known as “Sam,” passed away at the local hospital in Ardmore on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, after a sudden illness, at the age of 59 years, 6 months and 26 days. She was born on Mar. 27, 1959, to Farris and Fern (Wells) Richards in Ardmore.   
In her younger years, Sam worked at The Boys Food Store and Sam’s Nuthouse with her Dad, Farris. A graduate of Dickson High School, Sam and Don Scruggs married on June 4, 1974, at Ardmore. She spent most of her adult life as a homemaker at their home in the Greasy Bend area north of Mannsville.
Sam was preceded in death by her parents, Farris and Fern Richards and grandmother, that helped to raise her after her mother’s death, Mossy Wells.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Don Scruggs, of the home in Greasy Bend; her son Wes Scruggs and his wife, Courtney, of Dickson; and her daughter, Samantha Scruggs, of the home; a grandson, Kilee Bradley, of the home in Greasy Bend; two granddaughters, Breckyn Scruggs and Bristol Scruggs, of Dickson; her sister, Angela Smith and husband, Steve, of Ardmore; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, other family and friends.
Pastor Pearl Broome will officiate funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey Douglas Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lone Cedar Cemetery.   
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Scruggs, Velin Barnes, Derek Gray, Charlie Ammons, Mark Creswell, and Shawn Barnes.
The family will host a visitation at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018.
