There was no shortage of success this season when it came to cross country for area teams.

There was no shortage of success this season when it came to cross country for area teams.

This past weekend in Midwest City on the campus of Carl Albert High School, several area runners decided to test their skills against the best in the state, as they competed in the 2018 OTCA Meet of Champions race.

In the girls race, Marietta had multiple representatives.

Mandy Sykora turned in a solid second place overall finish with a time of 19:25, which was just 10 seconds behind Weatherford’s Kennadi Price for the top overall spot.

Sykora’s teammate Kaelyn Dobbins also turned in a solid finish at the event, clocking in at 19:51, which brought her a fifth place result. 

Vanessa Rodriquez placed in the top-20 as well for Marietta, in 20th overall with a time of 20:31, while Sophie Love finished in 39th at 21:51. 

Plainview also had multiple representatives in the girls race, as Emily Butler came in 36th overall with a time of 21:28.

Madi Turner was 38th at 21:38, with Katie Wiggs at 22:16 in 42nd overall. 

Marietta was also represented in the boys race, as Preston Wisenhunt finished seventh overall with a time of 16:17. 

State champion Miguel Duran of Madill finished 18th overall with a time of 16:47, with teammate Diego Ibarra in 36th with a time of 17:31. 

Sulphur was also represented in the boys race, with Caleb Pierce clocking in at 18:21, which brought him 46th overall in the race on Saturday.
