A new era officially began this past weekend for the Plainview Indians wrestling team.

With new head coach Ryan Henning beginning his first year in charge of the Indians following the retirement of the legendary Rocky Atencio, the Indians picked up where they left off last year, on a winning note.

Six Indians wrestlers came home with medals from the Putnam City West tournament in Oklahoma city in their respective weight classes.

Zane Shrader, Reece Bennett, Nick Vercelli and RJ Gann each won their respective division over the weekend.

Jhobany Sanchez came away with a solid second place finish over the weekend, while River Rubanks claimed third overall.

Plainview will be back in action this weekend at the Yukon tournament on the campus of Yukon High School.

Fans will have their first chance to see the Indians at the Plainview Activity Center on Nov. 29 when Little Axe and Durant come to town for a triangular dual with junior high matches beginning at 6 p.m with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
