Willie James Holmes, 63, of Madill, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at his home in Madill. He was born on Aug. 24, 1955, in Durant, Miss., to the late Sims Henry Holmes and Maude Prince Holmes. Willie was raised in Durant, Miss., and moved to Tulsa, where he worked at Hillcrest Medical Center for 30 years. He moved to Ardmore, where he worked for the Veterans Center and was currently working at the Carter County Court House in maintenance. Willie married Sony Joan Gordon on June 20, 1997. They moved to Madill in 2016. He was a deacon at the Church of Christ and he enjoyed working in the yard, helping people and enjoying life.
He is survived by: wife: Sonya Holmes, Madill, children: William Jermaine Anderson, Florida,  Willie Cortez Anderson, Florida, Brian Gordon and wife, Natasha, Ardmore, Michael Smith, Ardmore, Helena Gravin, Florida, Sherell Green and Kirk, Florida, 19 grandchildren two great-grandchildren, brothers: Richard Holmes and wife Lillie, Mississippi, Sims Henry Holmes Jr., Mississippi, Melvin Patterson, Mississippi and sister: Helen Holmes, Durant, Mississippi
 Willie was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Pearlie Mae McClellan and brother; Shirley Holmes.  
 Casket Bearers: Ostranea Holmes, Robert Meeks, Darrell Vaughn, Terry Carr, Craig Johnson, Randy Billings, Allen Gordon and Mark Kline
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at the McLish Church of Christ, Ardmore.  CD Rochell will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Clearview Cemetery, Ardmore. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
