Sidney Ann Snider Douglass, 87, passed away on Nov. 8, 2018 in Norman. She was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Mangum, the daughter of Luell Elton and Pauline Cox Snider.
She graduated from Mangum High School, and attended Stephens College. She finished her education at the University of Oklahoma with a degree in accounting. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority while there.
On Nov. 1, 1952, she married Mark Liscomb Douglass and together they had four sons and a daughter. They loved living and raising their family in Ardmore. Sidney was very involved in the community where she volunteered with the Ardmore Day Nursery and The Goddard Center. She was active with the Republican Women and enjoyed working with the Carter County Election Board.
Sidney was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore, where she was part of the Sanctuary Guild and involved with several bible studies. She loved her friends and the many social groups she participated in including the Ladies of the Leaf, the Birthday, the Garden, the Bridge and the Mahjong clubs. She also loved to paint and travel the world.
Sidney is survived by her sons, Mark and wife Shirley Douglass, Ed Douglass, Stephen and wife Jane Douglass, and daughter Ann and husband Eric Melton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, William Douglass, Elizabeth Douglass, Jillian Douglass, Luke Douglass, Ellen Melton and Clark Melton and sister-in-law Patricia Snider. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mark, son William Philip, and brother Stephen Snider.
Funeral services will be held at  11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, in the McClure Chapel of the First United Methodist Church with Reverend David Daniel officiating. A private burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore.
