A Celebration of Life for Charles Robert “Bob” Grissom, 89, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday Nov. 17, 2018, at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. Mike Stephenson officiating. Interment will be in the St. Philip’s Columbarium.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Ardmore. He was born at home to V. A. and John (Keys) Grissom on Aug. 3, 1929, and passed away at his home on Nov. 11, 2018.  He attended Ardmore High School where he was a proud member of the Class of 1947 and the Tiger football team.
He later attended the University of Oklahoma and earned his degree in finance. While at the University of Oklahoma he was an active member of the Oklahoma Beta chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity where he met many of his lifelong friends. He was a true gentleman.
After graduation he married his wife of 54 years, Helen Van Winkle on Dec. 1, 1952, and then shipped out 10 days later to Korea. After his posting in Korea with the 18th Fighter Wing, he returned to the US where he was stationed at Eglin AFB, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. He was always proud of his service as a 1st Lt. in the USAF.
In 1950, his family founded Community Finance Company and later in 1963 he and his brother founded Lincoln Bank and Trust Company where he served as Vice President and on the board throughout much of the rest of his life. He was very active in the local real estate community through his company C.R. Grissom and Co. During that time he was active with the Southern Oklahoma Board of Realtors and the Southern Oklahoma Development Authority later to be the ADA. Bob loved Ardmore and was proud of its progress.
Bob, loved the Episcopal Church which he discovered through our mother, and it played an integral part of his life.  He was a devoted member of St. Philip’s Church and served many roles for the Parish as he was called.  
Bob was a voracious reader and enjoyed reading World War II history. He was intrigued by languages and studied several.  He and Helen loved to travel and saw much of Europe and the North America. In his younger days he enjoyed boating, golf and tennis. He played flamenco guitar and was a self-taught pianist.  
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his parents, V. A. & John Grissom, his brother, John W. “Bill” Grissom and his nephew, Randy Grissom.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Page Grissom Worsham and her husband, Harry, of Lone Grove, his son, Alex Grissom, and his wife, Asuka, of Satellite Beach, Fla.  Grandchildren, R. Daniel Vernon, and his wife, Cacy, of Ardmore, Charlie Grissom, of Satellite Beach, Lacey Vertrees, and her husband, Richard of Hugoton, Kan., Brandon Worsham and Hailey Price, of Abilene Texas, great-grandchildren, Ava Vertrees and Grady Worsham, sister-in-law Anna Grissom, nieces Cathy Grissom Bolding, Nancy Grissom Wilson, and Gail Grissom, and several godchildren. Special friends and caregivers, Dana Salzman and Sharon Fuentes.
