Funeral services for Boise Andrew Harris, 89, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Reverend David Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Provence Cemetery with military honors.
A time of visitation and support will be Friday evening at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Son of the late Dewey S. Harris and Agnus Lavine (Gale) Harris, Boise was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Provence, and passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at Mercy Hospital, Ardmore.
A lifelong resident of Ardmore, Boise grew up in the Provence community and was a graduate of Dickson High School.  Boise had been a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone, and filled many positions, retiring as a company dispatcher.  He also had many other interests and places of work, including time with the Dr. Pepper Corporation, the Harris Service Station, Laura’s Grocery, the Harris Car Lot, Boise’s Place, the family dairy farm and for a time he and Laura operated a Parakeet farm.
Boise served his country honorably in the United States Army and Air Force. Serving first in the US Air Force where he attained the rank of Sergeant and then in the U. S. Army during the Korean War as a Sergeant First Class. For his service he was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star, the Army Occupation Medal (Japan) and the United Nations Service Medal.
He and the former Laura Carol Scrivner were married on June 25, 1965 at the residence of Laura’s parents, Will and Inez Scrivner in Ardmore. The parents of three sons, Andy, Aubry and Jim Douglas, they celebrated their fifty-third anniversary earlier this year.
Boise leaves to cherish his memory,  his loving wife, Laura of the home; sons, Andy Harris, Aubry Harris and wife Angeila and Jim Douglas Harris and wife Tracey; grandchildren, Tyson Harris, Nash Harris, Justin Harris, Riley Harris, Bryce Harris; sisters and brothers; Shirley Johnston, Charlene McClendon, Opal John, and Curtis Harris. In addition to his parents, Boise was preceded in death by brothers, James Harris, Bob Harris and sister, Doris Harris.
The family extends special thanks to Alison Ruth Johnston and his best friend, Bobbie Epley, for their assistance and many acts of kindness to Boise.
Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Wayne Dudley, Ricky Johnston, Aubry Harris, Jim Douglas Harris, Andy Harris, Justin Harris, Tyson Harris and Nash Harris.  Honorary Pallbearers include Kenny Johnston, Ronnie McClendon, Tim John, Kenneth Johnston and Donald John.
