Following a split to begin the season Tuesday night, the Wilson basketball teams were hoping the comforts of home would give them a boost Thursday night against Temple.

Both Wilson teams are in action tonight at home against Bray-Doyle beginning at 6:30 p.m.

A second straight win to open the season wasn’t in the cards for the Lady Eagles Thursday night, as Temple managed to escape with a narrow one-point victory. 

Temple held a 12-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter, before another 12-point quarter kept the Lady Tigers in the lead going into halftime at 24-13.

Wilson managed to make a rally in the third, outscoring Temple 10-7.

However, despite outscoring Temple 14-9 in the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles weren’t able to regain the advantage.

Destiny Colbert led the Lady Eagles with 14 points followed by Lexy Hodges with 11 points, and Bethani Ross with nine points.

The Wilson Eagles managed to get their first win of the season Thursday night, with a blowout result over Temple.

Wilson led 17-7 after the first quarter of play, before taking a 32-14 lead into the locker room at the half.

The Eagles offense kept up the momentum in the third quarter with another 17-point quarter to lead 49-22.

In the fourth quarter, the Eagles outscored Temple 12-11.

Shane Honea led the Eagles with 13 points followed by Kaden Forstythe and Trevor Schaaf each with 10 points in the game. Carson Fulton added nine points.
