Memorial graveside services for Jack Lee Brintle, of Leon, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at the Leon Cemetery, Leon, with Kent Harris officiating. Military rites will be provided by a U.S. Army honor team. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Marietta.
Born at Rubottom, on June 27, 1938, Mr. Brintle was the son of John Buchanon “J.B.” Brintle and Leota Barrick Brintle. He passed away Friday, Nov. 30, at his residence at Leon at the age of 80.
Jack graduated from Leon High School in 1956 and then served in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged on June 30, 1963. He and the former Kathryn Anne “Kay” Powell were married in Ardmore on July 22, 1960, and she preceded him in death on May 3, 2017. The couple made their home in River Oaks, Texas, while Jack worked as an assembler for General Motors, and upon his retirement in 1991 they moved to Leon to make their home. At that time Jack realized his dream of living/working on the farm and raising cattle. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leota Brintle; stepmother, Estell Dunn Brintle; two brothers, Ronnie Dale Brintle and Ricky John Brintle; and three sisters, Terry Garrison, Jenny Cadwallader, and Sheila Brintle.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Lee “Angie” Brintle of Hampstead, N.H.; three brothers, Randy Mac Brintle and wife Carolyn and James Buchanon Brintle of Lone Grove, and Estel Ray Brintle of Ardmore; four sisters, Janeane Hartman and husband Jack of Leon, Becky Abshire & husband Oscar of Wilson, Johnna Harris of Marietta, and Shari Harris and husband Kent of Ada; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Honorary bearers will be Joel Hicks, Justin Nielson, Mike Mayes, Clint Hartman, Curtiss Nipp, and Larry Hicks.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, Cross Timbers Hospice or the charity of one’s choice.
