While there was plenty of rain and wind making its way across the area Thursday night, the Ringling Blue Devils were hoping to keep their own early season storm going against the No. 16 Velma-Alma Comets.

Unfortunately, the Blue Devils five game winning streak came to a screeching halt, as the Comets were able to claim a 47-35 victory which moved them to 6-0 in the process.

Ringling meanwhile fell to 6-3 on the season.

At the end of the first quarter, the Blue Devils held a slim 7-6 advantage.

However, going into the halftime break it was the Comets with the slim lead as a 12-10 second quarter run gave Velma-Alma an 18-17 lead at the break.

V-A put together another 12-point quarter in the third to keep the advantage, while the Blue Devils were limited to just eight points after the interval.

Despite outscoring the Comets 10-7 in the fourth quarter, the Blue Devils weren’t able to rally.

Coty Scott led Ringling in scoring for the game with 17 points.

Ringling will be back in action on Dec. 18 against Marietta on the road, which will be its final game of the 2018 calendar year before the break.
