After enduring a rough six game stretch to open the 2018-19 season, the Ardmore Tigers finally gave themselves something to cheer about Friday afternoon.

A trip to the Lone Star State proved to be just what the doctor ordered, as the Tigers claimed their first victory of the season against the Gainesville Leopards by a score of 67-63 at the Gainesville High School Gymnasium.

Ardmore (1-6) will be back in action on Dec. 27 in the opening round of the Chickasaw Nation Ardmore Holiday Festival tournament where the Tigers will take on Palestine in the opening round at 5 p.m.

In the first quarter, the Tigers came out with a 20-17 advantage, before the Leopards turned the tables going into halftime with a 17-11 run.

Gainesville as a result led 34-31 at the break.

However, the Tigers managed to come back in the third quarter with a 17-16 run, before finishing off the game down the stretch thanks to a 20-13 fourth quarter.

Dylan Williams led the Tigers with 23 points in the game followed by Jamell Stoliby with 16 points.

Chadre McGee also added 13 points in the game for Ardmore, with Elijah Franks and Chris Lewis each scoring six points apiece in the contest.

Following the Holiday Classic, the Tigers will be off until Jan. 8 when they will travel for a game against Durant.
