Investigators with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations and the Madill Police Department have turned to the public for assistance with further information regarding an ongoing murder investigation.

OSBI released a statement Friday morning that said agents were called to the scene at 6 p.m. on Jan. 3 in the 200 block of North 7th Street in Madill.

Madill Police officers were dispatched to the residential address earlier for a welfare check on 52-year-old Joseph Wayne Lindsey at the request of a neighbor. The neighbor told police Lindsey had not been seen since the previous Friday.

MPD officers forced entry into the residence and found Lindsey dead inside. Further details from the scene have not been released.

OSBI and MPD worked through the night collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

“We have our guys out conducting interviews and trying to run down leads,” said OSBI Special Agent Steve Tanner. “Our investigators are working alongside Madill Police on this.”

Both agencies have requested anyone with information to contact Madill Police at (580) 795-2387 or OSBI at (800) 522-8017. Investigators do not have a photograph of Lindsey for circulation at this time.
