When it came to big time matchups Saturday night, there was none bigger than the finals of the Vision Bank Shawnee Invitational.

With the No. 2 Ardmore Lady Tigers meeting the No. 3 Shawnee Lady Wolves, it was a battle of unbeaten teams from Class 5A and 6A.

Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers were left just a few points short of continuing their undefeated season as they were handed their first loss by a score of 44-40 at the Shawnee Athletic Center.

Ardmore stayed stride for stride with Shawnee in the first quarter, finding itself down 8-7.

However, the Lady Wolves asserted their authority before halftime with a 17-3 run to lead 25-10 going to the locker room.

But the Lady Tigers came back strong with a 12-11 run in the third quarter, before nearly pulling off a miraculous comeback with an 18-8 fourth quarter run.

Sierra Gordon led the Lady Tigers with 15 points followed by Amaya Gordon with 10 points.

Maya McGee added five points while Tieronay Banks and Reagan McCurley each scored four points apiece.

Ardmore (16-1) will be back at home Tuesday night taking on the Duncan Lady Demons at 6:30 p.m.
