A new apartment complex will soon be available to income qualifying residents. The project is an 86-unit facility named Shady Acres that will be located on the corner of Monroe Ave. and D St. N.W.
According to Community Development Director Jessica Scott, some of the apartments in the new facility will be used to house residents who currently live in the Willow Brook Apartments located a bit farther down Monroe.
Lance Windel, president of Oklahoma Property Managers and CEO of Milestone Homes, LLC, described the new apartments.
“The entire complex is going to be gated with a fence,” Windel said. “The apartments will be in different sizes from studio all the way up to four bedrooms. It is also going to be entirely fenced with a gate.
Another feature of the new complex is a safe room. Windel said he plans on using a similar concept to the one he installed at his Lakeview Landing housing addition. The safe room will be a dual-purpose community room that residents can use for other purposes in addition to being a shelter during turbulent weather.
Scott said the new apartment complex is a welcome addition to the area, especially for those living at Willow Brook.
“It’s gated, it’s fully sprinkled, and it’s going to be its own little community,” Scott said. “It’s going to be a big upgrade for them.”
