DICKSON — While they might have been the second team to take the floor Tuesday night, the Dickson Lady Comets sure made the wait worth while for their fans.

Dickson never trailed as the Lady Comets used an offensive flurry to overwhelm Marietta 53-23, giving them their ninth win of the season and second straight.

Both teams came out strong in the first quarter, as they traded baskets between each other.

Dickson eventually got some control with a 7-4 lead at the 5:44 mark of the opening frame, before Marietta closed the gap to 10-9 with 1:05 left in the first.

Going to the second, it was all square at 12-12.

However, that was as good as it got for the Lady Indians the rest of the way.

Marietta struggled in the second quarter, finishing with just four points as the Lady Comets exploded for 19 points of their own to lead 31-16 going into the halftime break.

The offensive struggles continued for Marietta in the third quarter, as the Lady Indians managed just one point, while Dickson maintained its momentum with 12 points to lead 43-17.

Down the stretch, both teams cleared their benches allowing every player to see some playing time as Dickson outscored Marietta 10-6 in the fourth quarter.

Dickson was led on the night by Sienna Young with 10 points followed by Mikayla Smith with nine points and Landri McClure with seven points.

Clara Perez and Toriauna Douglass led Marietta with five points apiece.

Dickson will be on the road Friday night against Davis, while Marietta will host Byng.
