Ardmore police officers making a routine traffic stop Tuesday on Interstate 35 discovered a large sum of cash.
During the initial stop, K-9 officer Boss and his partner K-9 Handler Jarred Johnson discovered $10,000 hidden in the car in a sock. Officers would later discover a total of $357,720 hidden in a false floor in the bottom of the vehicle.
Officers arrested a man who identified himself as Herberta Panama Leon for driving without a license, later finding out his true identity was Jorge Luna Flores.
Ardmore Capt. Eric Hamblin said Flores bonded out of jail shortly after arrest and failed to appear for his initial court appearance. Hamblin said Flores has an extended criminal history in Texas, including drug trafficking.
“This is the largest seizure we are aware of in southern Oklahoma, we have seized the money and we will be applying for forfeiture of the money,” Hamblin said. “The largest I am aware of was $77,000 for our department.”
